Hawaiian Scholarships

Lane Flower

This semester I am enrolled in an introductory course in traditional Japanese culture, through which I participate in activities of the type aikidou, traditional flutes, etc.. Last week was ikebana, ten minutes from Shibuya, a workshop on Ikebana and tea ceremony.

For beginners: but what is Ikebana? 生け花 has two Chinese characters: first, that of life, the second meaning flower. The literal translation thus relates to the fact that the flowers are living, or have been brought to life: hence the subtitle "the art of living flowers" (also appropriate). The other call is Kadu, 花道 which literally means "way of flowers". From our side, we speak simply of floral arrangement: and this is! but as usual, the Japanese have brought every move to a sophistication never before. Ikebana has specific rules that I know absolutely no ... and I'm not going to explain here.

One thing is for sure is that a composition of ikebana is constructed by three points , answered symbolic of heaven, earth and men , and three criteria are taken into consideration: space, depth (or perspective) and asymmetry.

The lady made us some thing well done quickly "(raaaah) and after it was our turn.

Well, that's the trick quick well done "

Specifically, we were given a section each, and a wreath of flowers (three species of purple lilies, three branches of plum blossoms, two pink flowers). After, you have to cut the stems so that it looks like something.

And if each cut is unique, it is not fair because everyone has his vision and so on. No, it's because each flower is different, and it is not because your branch of plum bows on the right before returning to the left than the neighbor will do the same, which can be very compelling, infuriating see (when the flower finally not going in your direction and your whole composition is unbalanced, yes, it becomes annoying).
Each branch is planted on the small plate to put nails in the bottom of the bowl.

I could spend hours doing this ... we do not get tired! We just want ... to be beautiful. The composition must be beautiful, balanced, smooth without being boring, and we tend to forget the depth ... just need some flowers spring from the cauldron. Easier said than done. The plants are beautiful and fragile, is reluctant to cut must be careful when moving ...

(A flower among flowers, rhohoho)

Small look at the compositions of others: the same time, same number of flowers, and compositions very different ...

Finally the flowers were removed from their plates, wrapped in newspaper and in a small bag of jelly very refreshing third millennium ... and mine landed in an empty water bottle is made with the means that a. ..
